Frequently asked questions
Do you see people like me?
Every person has a unique story. Some focus on advancing their ambitions as they start out, while others are choosing a change of pace. Young or old, whatever their profession, all who seek the services of a career professional dream of the job that ‘fits’ so well that it enables their unique qualities to be expressed.
My clients have included those who are keen to present themselves at their best in applying for a great role they already have in their sights, those who want to branch out into something completely different, those who are considering retirement or semi-retirement, or who have been retrenched.
How many sessions will I need, and how much will it cost?
Some feel the need only for an initial consultation of 1.5 hours, with a follow-up by email or ‘phone, charged at $150 (including GST).
If you decide you’d like further support, following sessions of approximately one hour are offered at $100. (GST included).
Depending on your individual needs, we may also agree that it will be helpful for you to undertake some tasks independently outside of our face-to-face sessions. ‘Homework’ may include some reading, completing questionnaires, research, or work on your resume or other documents.
Will you find me a job?
My aim is to “teach you how to fish”, so that you will be equipped throughout your career to step towards your destination. I give you the tools to use, and support you as you access your inner resources to put them into practise. Throughout your career, you will be able to make the important decisions and feel confident in presenting yourself effectively to employers.
With this support - at once creative, visionary, and practical - you will feel empowered as never before to manage your career and job search steps independently.
Will you do my résumé for me?
Working on a résumé together with you, face-to-face, enables me to help you bring out what’s special about you and your career, and to present all that concisely, with impact, targeted to the job you want, and in terms which are meaningful to the potential employer.
Yes, we can create a résumé by correspondence. This way, though, it may lack the inspiration and insight that can be gained from working on it side-by-side with you.
How can I prepare for our sessions?
The more clarity you have about what you think are the areas in which you'd like some help, the better we will be able to meet your needs. It can be a good idea to map out in writing how you see your current situation, any ideas you might have for the future, and what you think you’d like help with. Prior to our meeting, or at any stage, you are welcome to call or email me with your thoughts, together with your current resume (if you already have one) here.
